Black and Blue Party Rules

Age: You must be 21 or older to enter.
Respect: Be patient and courteous to attendees, volunteers, and staff.
Devices: Recording devices (phones, cameras, tablets, etc.) are not allowed in the play area. Phones can be used in designated areas, such as the lobby or restrooms. Vendors may use a cell phone for credit/debit card transactions. Attendees experiencing a disability may request a Reasonable Accommodation (RA)
Consent: All play requires informed, continuous consent. Negotiate in advance and respect boundaries. You can leave any space or activity at any time.
No Pressure: Don’t follow or repeatedly ask someone to play. Accept declines gracefully and report any safety concerns to event staff.
Inclusivity: Respect the diversity of bodies, sexualities, and play styles. If you’re uncomfortable, remove yourself.
Respect Boundaries: Avoid assumptions about gender, roles, power dynamics, or relationships. Treat all attendees with respect.
Smoking: Smoking and vaping are allowed only outside, 20 feet from entrances.
Food & Drink: beverages and food available for purchase. Anyone overly intoxicated may be asked to leave. No recreational drugs allowed.
Dress Code: Dress up—no sweatpants. Fetishwear, costumes, and fancy dress are encouraged. Black or dressy-casual is fine if new.
Scent-Free: Avoid wearing heavy perfumes or scents.
Hygiene: Use a barrier (towel, sheet, etc.) between your body and surfaces when nude.

DUNGEON RULES

Dungeon Monitors (DMs)

DMs are on duty to enforce rules, ensure safety, and assist with scene logistics. Be courteous if a DM interrupts or stops your play, and follow their instructions. The Head DM’s decisions are final, and there is no appeal process.
Safewords
The house safewords are “Red” or “Safeword.” A visual safeword is required for play that impairs speech.

Edge Play

Edge play is permitted only in the designated edge play area, with prior check-in with a DM. Edge play includes hot wax, breathplay, needles, blood play, CNC, waterboarding, and other extreme practices. Dispose of sharps in the provided containers and bodily fluid-contaminated waste (e.g., gloves, gauze) in the biohazard bins. Do not leave the edge play area while wearing needles or other skin-piercing items, including to use the bathroom.

Safety and Aftercare

Bring all necessary items for your play, including for aftercare and wound care (for blood play in the designated area only). Clean all equipment before and after use with the disinfectant provided by the venue. Use a towel or sheet to cover equipment when involved with bodily fluids. Towels and sheets are available or may be brought.

Safer Sex Practices

We recommend, but do not require, safer sex practices and bodily fluid barriers. Condoms, dental dams, and gloves (latex & nitrile) are available throughout the dungeon.

Environment

Black and Blue is NOT latex-free or nut-free.

Play Stations

Play stations are first-come, first-served. If others are waiting, please limit scenes to 1 hour. If someone is waiting, don’t start a new scene, even if a participant is new.

Respecting Play Spaces

Do not intrude on or disrupt a scene unless invited. Watching from a respectful distance is allowed. Do not engage with players until they leave the space or invite you to interact.

Walkways

Keep walkways clear at all times.

Food and Drink

Outside food and drink are not allowed in the venue.

PROHIBITED ITEMS & PLAY

No guns (real, replica, toy, antique, or fantasy).
No fire play, fireworks, or open flames.
No scat, vomit, or urine play.
No chemical play that affects other players (e.g., mace).
No glitter, balloons, or other messy items.
No uncontained water play.
No recording devices.

ACTIONS THAT MAY RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM BLACK AND BLUE

Racism, sexism, bigotry, or toxic behavior.
Discrimination, harassment, or violence based on ethnicity, race, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, kinks, age, disability, body size, religion, or nationality.
Direct or indirect threats, stalking, unwelcome sexual attention, unsolicited sharing of pornographic images, deadnaming, or misgendering.

The Black and Blue party rules are NOT a comprehensive list of all prohibited behavior, but they cover many common issues. For items not covered, defer to the direction of Dungeon Monitors and event staff for guidance.
For disagreements, decisions by the Event Staff and Dungeon Monitors are final.
The PLA reserves the right to remove anyone for any reason without warning or refund.

PLA’s mission is to serve our community through classes, workshops, social gatherings, discussion groups, and community outreach/support.
