Pay what you can. 👈\n\n\n\n\nAbout Sexy Intersect ions: Anti-Oppression &\; Sex Positivity\nSexy Intersections is a cor e class in SexPositive Portland for all of us wanting to learn more abou t how we show up/speak up/receive feedback from others when we share spa ce together.\n\nNavigating intersectionality within sex-positivity isn't binary\, nor always easy to understand even for the most informed aroun d identities. Often within various sex-positive communities\, there can be significant gaps in power that include race\, gender\, accessibility\ , religion\, economic and YES\, even still\, sexuality.\n\nWe'll explore how we can be better "naked neighbors" by recognizing moments where we might be in a position of identity inequality\, harm or minimization &am p\; how we can close those gaps together.\nDuring this Workshop\, we wil l:\n\n Reflect on our many identities &\; how they shape our own exp ertise.\n Reflect without judgment on the areas where we could learn &a mp\; grow.\n Discuss how to better handle those moments when we've made a harmful mistake &\; how to approach it with grace.\n\nAll workshop elements are optional participation\; we do not believe in mandatory fu n!\n\nThis class is a good space for beginners who are eager to learn\, in addition to well experienced community members who want more tools &a mp\; techniques to navigate sexy spaces &\; be better allies to other s &\; themselves as well.\n\nWe’ll think about our many identities &\; how they shape our expertise\, &\; the areas where we need to learn &\; grow. We’ll spend time talking about the inevitable mista kes we make &\; the ways our actions &\; words can hurt each other \, even with the best of intention. We'll also walk through ways to bett er handle those hard times when we’ve done things that don’t align w ith who we think we are.\n\nWe’ll center race &\; gender in the exe rcises we work on together while learning more about how all aspects of oppression &\; privilege effect our sex positive interactions in comm unity. We'll encourage folks from all walks of life to work on perspecti ve-taking from our privileges as well as our oppressions.\nFeaturing Jim ena Alvarado\nJimena Alvarado (she/her) has been teaching social justice professionally since 2009. She is a tenured professor at Portland Commu nity College\, and earned a PhD in Community Psychology and a Master's i n Women's Studies.\n\nShe specializes in conversational learning and her curriculum focuses on getting comfortable with learning from the social justice mistakes that we all make. She regularly provides training to o rganizations on incorporating intersectionality and anti-racism work int o their everyday processes.
